DO’S AND DON’TS OF A MEMORABLE BROCHURE BY RUSH HOUR PRINTING AND GRAPHICS
No matter the industry or size of your business, brochures are a great way of showcasing your business to your target market. However, simply knowing using the brochure is not going to be enough for you and your business.
Below are do’s and don’ts of creating an effective brochure for your business.
DO’S
STRATEGIC THINKING– be very deliberate with your brochure, don’t just have one because everyone else has it. Decide on what its purpose is before you settle on the design. Decide whether your brochure is informational, a point of sale, supplemental, direct mail etc.
FOCUS ON THE GOALS–once you have decided on the purpose of the brochure, tailor it to fit the purpose. Without the first step, one usually ends up with a brochure that is jam-packed with different information that just ends up confusing the reader.
KNOW YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE– by knowing the people you want your brochure to reach, you will know how to better appeal to them. This allows you to know the tone, style and appropriate language your copywriting will use to better communicate with your target audience.
USE QUALITY GRAPHICS– nothing makes a brochure stand out like high-quality graphics. They inject a more professional edge to it and make your target market take you more seriously.
COLORS– choose a combination of two to three colors that preferably are your brand colors. This makes it gel with the rest of your image and also makes your brochure easily identifiable as belonging to your brand.
RELEVANT HEADLINE AND TAGLINE– the headline is very important in drawing in your reader, therefore the headline, as well as the tagline, should effectively communicate to the reader what the brochure is talking about, and in a concise manner. In this way, the reader can still understand what the brochure is about at first glance.
HAVE A CALL TO ACTION– the call to action motivates the reader to want to engage with you more. Do not simply assume that your brochure as is will move your reader into contacting you.
DON’TS
USE TOO MANY FONTS– for your brochure to easily capture and maintain the attention of the reader, it need not be cluttered with too many fonts. This will take away from the useful information the brochure may have.
OVERDO THE DESIGN– overdone brochures make it hard for the reader to prioritize what to concentrate on. At Rush Hour Printing and Graphics, a graphic designer will work closely with you to ensure you have a tastefully designed brochure that also communicates better to the readers.
BE WORDY– a heavily worded brochure does not inspire a reader to take time on it. Use simple concise wording that can be easily read through within a short period of time.
USE COMPLICATED WORDS– most people who will be getting your brochure will not understand all the jargon you put in and frankly don’t even care about them. All big complicated words do is get the reader uninterested in engaging with your brochure. Use easily understandable words and graphics to explain complex concepts.
